Independence Plus, an innovative agency supporting people with intellectual disabilities in West Los Angeles, is looking for part-time/full-time instructors to join their team. Our instructors are mentors, coaches, advocates and trusted friends to adults with mild developmental disabilities.
Our staff serve as community ambassadors for our agency, working to change the hearts and minds of the community in how they perceive the disabled community. Independence Plus instructors inspire our clients to embrace adulthood and the responsibilities of true independence. We are on a mission to revolutionize the way people with disabilities are viewed, treated, and accepted by the community.
We help clients learn the basics of adult life including: cooking, banking, using public transportation, grocery shopping, following and finding recipes, managing medical appointments, and general housekeeping. We also focus on assisting clients entering the next level of adulthood through work, enrollment in college classes, volunteerism, joining adult sports leagues, and introducing to them to local groups and clubs.
Independence Plus has an inclusion focused, community strong, modern philosophy which our instructors must also embrace.
